3D Printed Toy Assignment

 

Identifying The Problem

      

      I am looking forward to create 3D printed name tag for child age 5-8. That is the purpose for designing .

 

 

Research The Need/Problem

 

 

                                                   ←This is the child name tags from Japan.

                                                   I think it is nice because they are very

                                                   simple for child and shape is really great

                                                   for child. However, I can change the color

                                                   part because I cannot imagine that child

                                                   like black colored flower.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

→This is the name tag which shape is bone. On the center

of this name tag, there is little child with holding ice cream.

I think it is really popular for child. However, it was really

hard to figure out the shape.

As a result of researching, I set up the target market first. 

 

        Gender: Boy

        Age: 5-8

        Name: Everyone

        Characteristics: People who like the bus.

                                  People who want to buy the name tag

 

 

Why I chose the shape as bus is it is really famous for boys kids. So, I think many of boys will like and buy it. I want them to play with it while they use it as a name tag. I think its design is efficient to get interest boys and their parents.When their parents know that children like it, I hope they might buy it.

I made up the sketch by my hand. It is seen from 3 different view points. It is helpful for sketching on the google sketch up because I have variety views to look and think about. I created the name tag which is not focusing on one person. I want to use by many people as possible. So, I made the place to put user's name. If you have some paper and pen, you can write down your name on your favorite paper and pen with some decorations. Also, there are many hollows on my design. It is really helpful to take and keep children's interesting. They may get interested in this hollows and they might keep touching. Test & Evaluate

 

Prototype have gone somewhere. If I got  my prototype, I will put pictures on this page. Also, I will test and evaluate it as I got the prototype 

 

Communicate

 

        I just see my prototype once. However, when I looked at it, I thought it was too small for the name tag even if it is for children. My plan for this name tag was that you can put your name by putting paper and use it many times.However there were no space to do it. I should confirm the scale for this name tag before I submit it. 

 

Redesign

         If I can redesign for this assignment, I would change my scale of the name tag. Once again, I got a really small prototype. 

 

 

REFLECTION

 

             I selected this project because it was really hard project ever I had. First thing, Google SketchUp was really difficult to handle it. So that, it takes a long time to finish my name tag. I have learned how to set target market and how to use 3D printer.My challenge, I faced in creating this project, was using Google SketchUp. I still do not get how to use it. This software is the worst project ever in my life. the knowledge from this project will help me when I want to use 3d Printer. Nowadays, 3D printer became so famous and familiar. I think over decades, that printer will be the normal thing. So I think next new some things would come.
